Types Of Hair Transplant
With the improving medical advancements, hair transplant techniques are evolving. Once the patient has decided to undergo the hair transplantation process, it is very essential to decide which method to follow. There are many different techniques that one should undergo for harvesting hair follicles. Every technique has its advantages and disadvantages. The transplantation procedure is performed with mild sedation and injected local anesthesia.
There Are Three Main Types Of Hair Transplantation:
1. Follicular Unit Trasplant
It is one of the most popular hair restorative procedures that has been around for decades. This method helps in quicker recovery and natural-looking results after the recovery from the treatment. This procedure can be also called as “Strip Surgery”. The main difference between FUT and other hair transplant techniques is the extraction process. This surgery leaves a linear scar which is often visible. However, the FUT technique offers permanent outcomes with great hair growth.
This method is preferred due to these reasons:
It provides easier extraction of a greater number of grafts in one go.
It is capable of solving severe cases of balding and hair thinning with precision.
It shows long-term effects and the success rate is quite high.
It is one of the most budget-friendly procedures.
You might face fallouts or hair loss for a few weeks. It is very normal to observe hair loss as it indicates the regrowth of new hair. It takes around 10-12 months to experience full hair growth.
2. Follicular Unit Extraction
FUE hair transplant is a modern and advanced hair restoration method that involves the extraction of individual hair follicles from the donor site and transplanting it into the recipient site. The process involves the implementation of healthy hair follicles from the donor part of the body to the desired area. It is quite different from FUT, it is less invasive and doesn’t leave any scar behind.
This method is preferred due to these reasons:
It involves local anesthesia that ensures quick recovery from the numbness.
It removes very few hair follicles for the transplant. Hence, it retains the density of the hair on the donor site as well.
It can use the hair follicles from the various donor sites and not only the back of the scalp.
3. ROBOT Assisted HAIR TRANSPLANT
This is the latest advancement in execution of hair transplant procedures. In Robotic FUE, the follicular units are extracted directly from the scalp or the back of the head using 3-D imaging robotic and the use of artificial intelligence to help in minimizing the injury of the follicles. The hair transplant surgeon can quickly and accurately identify the best candidates for the same. You certainly don’t have to worry about scarring or stitches in robotic hair transplantation. However, the biggest downside is that it is very costly, and require better precision.
