It is very essential to undergo proper pre hair transplant care. This ensures a smooth process and the patient never feels discomfort during this procedure.
- THE PATIENT MUST FOLLOW THESE HAIR TRANSPLANT CARE TIPS, TEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE SURGERY:
It is recommended to avoid usage of Aspirin, Advil, anti-inflammatory treatments, line thinners, pain killers, and any herbal medications.
No steroids should be consumed and applying cortisone creams should be avoided since they increase the risk of bleeding during the surgery.
Liquor and smoking should be prohibited during this time.
- THE PATIENT MUST FOLLOW THESE HAIR TRANSPLANT CARE TIPS, A DAY PRIOR TO THE SURGERY:
It is necessary to avoid applying any hair spray, gel, or any other styling product.
The patient must get adequate sleep.
It is essential to consume all the medications prescribed by the doctor.
The patient must take the prescribed treatments on the day of surgery before reaching the clinic. The patient should wear any old shirt at the time of the procedure since it will be cut off after the procedure is finished. They must carry a button-up shirt, which can be easily worn after the procedure ends. Few other instructions for the patient at the time of procedure are as follows:
The Scalp should be washed using a mild shampoo.
Caffeine should be avoided on the day of the surgery.
Light breakfast should be consumed.

The doctor will start the treatment by giving anesthesia to the hair loss areas. In FUE, the hair follicles are extracted from the healthy area of the scalp and transplanted on the bald areas. Whereas, in FUT, the doctor removes a few inches of skin graft and the hair follicles are extracted from the sections.
Post Operative Hair Transplant Instructions
Hair transplant surgery is like any other procedure that needs proper rest and care. You must take all the necessary precautions at the time of hair transplant and even after it. There is some tenderness in the scalp for a few days after a hair transplant. You must not mess with the recipient area and take proper treatments for post-hair transplant care.
Even if you had the best doctor, it is important for the patients to take some measures even after the surgery for a speedy recovery.
- ON THE DAY OF SURGERY:
The patients are discharged with a head bandage after the procedure. They are advised not to remove the bandage till they go to sleep.
The head should be elevated at the time of sleeping. You must also place a towel under your head.
In case of bleeding, you must use sterile gauze and apply continuous pressure on the area of bleeding.
-A DAY AFTER THE SURGERY:
The bandage should be carefully removed before taking a shower the next day.
You can take 3 showers and gently massage the scalp with the shampoo in the morning, afternoon, and night. You must wash your hair in such a way that your scalp should be free from blood or crust.
Use cold compressions in case of temporary swelling on the forehead.

Never sleep or lie on your face, it might cause swelling on the face.
Never consume any alcoholic beverage 3 days after the surgery.
Never comb or brush your implanted hair for 7 days after the procedure.
Do not visit any dirty or dusty environment.
Very gentle shampoo should be done for the first week after the procedure.
Do not smoke for at least 2 weeks after the surgery.
Don’t go for a haircut for at least 3 weeks.
Don’t expose the treated hair to direct sunlight for a month after the procedure.
Do not use any color or dye for at least 4 weeks.
